Instrument packaging
I spearheaded the development process of customer-facing product packaging, steering it from inception to fruition for the launch of Illumina's smallest sequencer.
The Objective
This groundbreaking sequencer represented a new era in technology: compact, cost-effective, and exceptionally fast in data processing. Consequently, the challenge lay in crafting packaging that diverged from our conventional approach.
Traditionally, our products were housed in standard brown corrugated boxes adorned with markings and labels surrounding the product name and logos. However, for this innovative launch, we opted for a more upscale approach. We designed a luxurious box featuring only essential information, enhanced with a soft-touch coating, adorned with foil accents for logos and product names, and engineered for effortless user access—a true testament to our commitment to quality and user experience.
I generated renders depicting the final product's appearance, providing a visual walkthrough for the Creative Director and Product Managers. This immersive experience detailed every aspect of the packaging, from its exterior to its interior, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the envisioned outcome.
